The Veterans Picnic Committee along with the Columbian Progress will hold an essay contest for this years picnic in November. This year they will be honoring our World War II and Korean War era patriots.

The story can be about yourself or someone you know who served during World War II or the Korean conflict. The person does not have been in combat, but could have be someone who worked at home in the war effort. Tell a story about something the subject person did, saw or something that stands out in the memory of the subject person you are writing about. This era of veterans are vanishing quickly, so let’s share our history and teach younger generations of the sacrifices made for our country. All entries must be in or post marked by August 1st 2016.

For essay contest rules or more information, cal the Veterans Service Office at 601-736-2239. They will mail you or email you the information, or you can follow them on Facebook at Veterans Picnic Columbia MS.
