Digging a communications line in Hattiesburg early Tuesday proved to be a lot more than a normal job when crews caused a break in the water line that will be effecting part of the community for a while.
The crew was burying the line at the corner of East 7th and J.D. Randolph Streets when they punctured a 20-inch gash in the water line. Portions of 7th Street are already blocked off while water crews are attempting to fix the break. This will impact a large area from New Orleans and Providence Streets.
There is no estimation as to how long water will be out in the area.
