The New Orleans Saints released running back C.J. Spiller on Tuesday. He was a healthy scratch for this past weekend’s season opener against the Oakland Raiders. Spiller, who signed a 4 year, $16 million deal with New Orleans in early 2015, played in thirteen games for the Saints last year where he rushed 36 times for 112 yards. Spiller also caught 34 passes for 239 yards. His best overall season was with the Buffalo Bills in 2012, when he rushed for 1,244 yards and caught 43 passes for 459 yards.
