An attempted murder suicide in the block of Smith Jones Road in Jefferson Davis County early Wednesday morning has left 1 injured and 2 dead. Lee Sandifer shot his girlfriend of 10 years, Christine Lewis, and 10-year old child following a domestic dispute around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31st. Sandifer first shot their 10-year old child before he moved into the bedroom where he shot Lewis. Sandifer fired 2 shots at Lewis with the first shot missing her then the second one grazing her head. He then turned the gun on himself and took his own life.
Lewis was taken to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg where she was treated for her injuries and released. Their 10-year old child was immediately sent to the University of Mississippi Medical Center where the child was initially listed in critical condition, but later died.
Jefferson Davis County Sherriff, Ron Strickland, says the investigation is ongoing.
