On Friday, at approximately 10:30 PM, the Marion County Sheriffs Office received a call in reference to a fight with possible shooting and stabbing in the area of Conerly Lane in Kokomo. Deputies responded to the area and were unable to locate anything or anyone. They remained in the area attempting to find out information about the call when at approximately 11:00 PM, the Sheriffs Office dispatch center received a call in regards to a suspicious vehicle parked at 56 Conerly Lane. When deputies arrived, they discovered the body of Billy May, 44 years of age, of Tylertown. May was pronounced deceased at the scene by AM Ambulance Service, who was still in the area as well. Marion County Sheriffs Office investigators along with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and their Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and began the investigation. Through the course of this investigation, Jarvis Conerly, 26 years of age, of Kokomo, was arrested and charged with murder. Deputies went to make contact with Ronnie Smith, 37 years of age, of Kokomo. When deputies approached Ronnie, he fled on foot and a man hunt ensued throughout the course of the night. Smith was taken into custody on Sunday morning at the Marion County Jail and charged with murder. The initial crime scene was determined to have taken place at 27 Conerly Lane In the Kokomo community. This investigation is still ongoing by the Marion County Sheriffs Office, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, Marion County Coroner Norma Williamson, and the 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
