Mississippi Power transmission and distribution crews, along with contract crews from four neighboring states, worked safely into the night Sunday as restoration efforts continue following Saturday’s devastating tornado in the Pine Belt.
Since our last update, electric service has been restored to nearly 95 percent of customers who can receive it. The company will continue working to restore service to the remaining customers impacted by the storm by midnight Monday.
The outage peak was approximately 11,000 customers after the tornado damaged areas of south Hattiesburg and Petal early Saturday morning.
