Chief Deputy Jeff Broom, who was been in law enforcement for 17 years turned in his resignation Friday, according to Marion County Sheriff Berkley Hall.
“Regarding Broom, it’s a personnel matter that can’t be discussed,” Hall said. “Investigators with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations were called in to investigate the matter we deemed as a questionable.”
According to Hall, the incident occurred three weeks ago, but he could not provide any other details citing the internal personnel issue.
Hall said he accepted Broom’s resignation.
