Manhunt Ends in Lawrence County

The manhunt for Lawrence County resident, Tony Wilson, ended when authorities found him dead around 8:45pm on Monday night in the Frog Ridge area of Southwest Lawrence County. According to Sheriff Lessie Butler, it appears he died of a self inflicted gunshot wound. Wilson had been wanted since December 19th when he allegedly murdered his neighbor Henry Peavey, brutally beat Peavey’s wife, and set fire to their home and another property they owned.

Mississippi Highway Patrol SWAT returned to the area where they began looking for Wilson after reports surfaced that Wilson had been seen in the area near his home on Frog Ridge Road. Authorities soon found his body with the help of tracking dogs. It is not certain as to how long he had been dead.
