Three deaths, including the death of a small child, resulted from a high speed car chase that began in Jefferson Davis County and ended in Covington County on Tuesday morning, October 25th. According to the Covington County Coroner, Yshaneeta Magee, 33 years old, and Jeremiah Barnes, 2 years old, both from Prentiss, MS, died instantly when their Pontiac G6 crashed into a tree on Lone Star Road in Covington County around 11:30am on Tuesday morning. An additional passenger, Chiquita Barnes Flowers, 22 years old from Prentiss, was sent to Forrest General Hospital where she later died. The driver, Brandon Flowers, was also sent to Forrest General Hospital where he was held in critical condition.
The chase began when the car sped off after being pulled over for a routine traffic stop in Jefferson Davis County. Authorities continued the chase into Covington County, where it ended with a crash on Lone Star road. The Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department has not yet had any comments on the incident.
