Flash Flooding Concerns Increase

Rain is expected to increase through the day today, and especially into tonight, as a tropical disturbance moves closer to the Gulf Coast. Flooding potential will slowly increase with totals of a few inches possible in some spots by later tonight. There is a Flash Flood Watch for the area beginning at 1pm this afternoon until Thursday morning.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Wednesday through Monday Flooding is expected to these areas of south central and southeastern Mississippi Wednesday through Friday night as a tropical disturbance moves around the western periphery of the region. Widespread rain totals of 2 to 4 inches are anticipated but pockets of heavier totals will likely occur and should lead to at least a few instances of flooding. This will especially be the case later Wednesday into Wednesday night. In addition, isolated severe thunderstorms are possible for the entire outlook area on Thursday. The main threat with any severe storms will be gusty winds and brief tornadoes.
