Tuesday evening brought thunderstorms to the area, as well as two separate fires caused by lightning. Just after 6pm, Lamar volunteer firefighters responded to a home on fire at 205 Burnt Bridge Road. A tree next to the home was struck and spread to the building. A short time later, a house just to the north, on 34 Den Stone Road in the Bent Creek Subdivision caught fire due to a lightening bolt which hit a tree and traveled down the electrical wiring into the garage. No one was hurt in either blaze.
